All Hands On Deck!
We need your help. The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA Canada) and our leaders at the Canadian Marine Retailers Association (CMRA) just sent out an urgent appeal for industry and public support to pressure the Government to cancel the Luxury Tax on boats.
We are all at risk of potential American tariffs severely damaging Canada’s economy and at a time when costs are rising and economic uncertainty looms, Canada’s harmful luxury tax on boats is making things even worse—driving sales, jobs, and investments out of our country.
The Parliamentary Budget Officer (PBO) and Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) confirmed that the tax is falling far short of revenue projections, bringing in nearly $50 million less than expected in its first year. Instead of targeting the ultra-wealthy, the tax has caused an estimated $240 million in lost sales and continues to threaten marine sector jobs across the country.
