The CCA is helping small and medium sized companies hire apprentices, while the CBTU will provide $5,000 for SMEs to hire new apprentices in 39 Red Seal Trades including construction and industrial electricians. |

Arlington Releases Update on IN BOX® Lawsuit Against Eaton Crouse-Hinds
Arlington Industries announces the resolution of its lawsuit against Defendant, Cooper Crouse-Hinds, LLC, a subsidiary of Eaton Corporation. Arlington had asserted the patent and trademark on its IN BOX® line of Recessed Electrical Boxes with Weatherproof In Use Extra Duty Covers against Eaton Crouse-Hinds’ “Extra Duty Recessed While-In-Use Covers” line of weatherproof box products, i.e., model numbers WIUR1W1, WIUR1T1, WIUR1G1, WIUR1B, which were recently discontinued. The case was dismissed by motion of the parties. |

CBTU to Lead Federally Funded Apprenticeship Services Project
Canada’s Building Trades Unions has been selected as an intermediary for the Apprenticeship Service Program – a federally-funded program that will help apprentices get started in the skilled trades. CBTU will connect first-year apprentices in eligible Red Seal Trades with job opportunities with small and medium-sized employers (SMEs) with the goal of hiring 4,000 first-year apprentices including 20 per cent participation from equity-deserving groups over the course of the next two years. |

Late in May this year, Ontario and Quebec were hit by a holiday weekend storm that caused $875 million in damage. The sixth most costly storm in Canada’s history was a derecho, a massive windstorm.
