The past years of development and deployment in efficient solid-state lighting have been aboon on energy use and carbon emissions. However, in the rush to create what seem to be better lamps and luminaires, the industry may have inadvertently created a new problem for the near future: single-use commodity fixtures, a literal mountain of unrecyclable e-waste waiting to happen. A unique central spiral staircase connects the multi-floor space. So, designers at OL+ utilized bespoke lighting to create a signature focal point. “When meeting to discuss the initial design concepts, we presented the company’s design team with Eureka Lighting’s Celeste pendant,” said Michele Brooks, principal and director of life sciences at OL+. “Everyone responded positively to the artisanal glass shapes, loosely reminiscent of red cells, and a nod to the organization’s work with rare blood disorders.” Read More |

Changing Scene
The Solid-State Lighting QPL has Fully Transitioned to V5.1
As of July 1, 2022, the DLC has completed the transition to the newest version of the Solid-State Lighting (SSL) Technical Requirements (V5.1) – a policy designed to increase efficacy and improve quality of light and controllability of qualified fixtures and lamps. Any products that have not been updated to meet V5.1 requirements have been removed from the Qualified Products List (QPL). Read More |
