A new dramatic lighting display on the ceiling of the Complexe Guy-Favreau now welcomes guests, employees and residents at the 12-story building located in the heart of downtown Montreal. Located at 200 René Lévesque Boulevard in Ville-Marie, Montréal, the building complex is a joint venture between the Canadian federal government, which served as the head of the project, as well as private businesses, the City of Montreal, and the Desjardins Group. The multifunctional complex, which was built in 1984 on six acres of land, is part of Montreal’s underground city network and contains various Canadian governmental offices, rental properties, a housing cooperative, commercial units, a daycare facility, and a small park at its center. MaxLite Enters Growing Lighting Controls Market

The lighting controls market, anecdotally, is a significant growth segment within the lighting space. According to our Q2 Pulse of Lighting Report, 62% of distributors reported an increase in quotation activity and 37% of distributor respondents reported sales growth. This affirms findings from a global research report that stated the market is expected to grow to $18 billion, globally, by 2026, a 19% CAGR with another report sharing that North America represented 39.8% of the Intelligent Lighting Control market in 2019 . Drivers of the market include: Rising installment of lighting control systems through retrofitting. Retrofits are expected to grow at a 21% CAGR and increasing demand for energy efficiency lighting. Can we Illuminate our Cities and (Still) See the Stars?

Could we enjoy starry skies in our cities again? Arguably yes. The actual number of visible stars will depend, among other factors, on the spatial density of the overall city light emissions. In this paper it is shown that reasonably dark skies could be achieved in urban settings, even at the center of large metropolitan areas, if the light emissions are kept within admissible levels and direct glare from the light sources is avoided. These results may support the adoption of science-informed, democratic public decisions on the use of light in our municipalities, with the goal of recovering the possibility of contemplating the night sky everywhere in our planet. - A New Role for Nicole Griffo at Stanpro
Salma Siddiqui, Director of Sales at Stanpro announced the promotion of Nicole Griffo to the position of Assistant Regional Sales manager. She started in her new role as of October 4. Nicole will be responsible for supporting the GTA sales team and focusing on business development in Ontario. Nicole joined Stanpro in March 2011 as a Customer Service Representative. "Breaking new ground" – this is the motto for the reunion at Light + Building from 13 to 18 March 2022. The new concept is in place and preparations are in full swing.
