What the future holds…
The beginning of every new year brings a host of predictions about what the future holds and this year seems to be offering up a bonanza of ideas thanks to the huge level of uncertainty coming out of the pandemic.
Will interest rates rise? That seems to be a definite, at least in the short term. Governments the world over have fallen into line on that and citizens like you and I will suffer higher mortgage costs, possible declining property values at least in the near term, and there may be job losses in conjunction with the rising interest rates.

Boating Ontario 50/50 Raffle supports the Georgian Bay Food Network
Boating Ontario was pleased to present a cheque for $880.00 to the Georgian Bay Food Network. During the Association’s recent Conference, a 50 / 50 raffle was held with a commitment that the Boating Ontario share of the proceeds would be donated to the winner’s choice of local food bank. Adam Hancock of the Electrical Safety Authority was the winner and Adam chose the Georgian Bay Food Network.

Eight Bells – Leo Hintze
We are saddened to share the news of Leo Hintze’s sudden passing on Saturday December 17, 2022 at the age of 81. Leo Hintze came to visit Canada in 1967 as a marine mechanic and worked for Mr. Bulmer at the Toronto waterfront. Shortly after, he went back to Finland and married his sweetheart Leena and together they came back to Canada to start a family and a new life.

The industry mourns the passing of Gerry Huck
We are saddened to share the news of Gerry Huck’s passing, peacefully with his family at his side on Sunday December 25, 2022 at the age of 84. In their obituary, the family wrote that for those of us who knew and loved Gerry… know that right now he is talking to St Peter, telling him that although Heaven seems nice, he has just left his own paradise.
