Well, as 2022 is bearing down on us rapidly the pandemic is still with us - we have a new variant, Omicron, and travel restrictions are coming back. We currently have plans to hold the January ExCom Meetings face-to-face and the March Education and Board meetings likewise but as always with the health situation we will have to adapt depending on the infection numbers. But at the front of our minds safety must come first.

On Thursday evening, the Toronto International Boat Show (TIBS) has announced that the annual event, cancelled as an in-person show last year but scheduled to be held in-person this January, is again going virtual for 2022. Boaters, exhibitors, and everyone in the community had been looking forward to the landmark event, but the pandemic has once again forced the event online only.

Vancouver International Boat Show Cancels In-Person Event for 2022
In light of the Friday, December 17 announcement by the Provincial Health Office restricting capacity limits in venues of 1,000 individuals or more to a maximum capacity of 50%, the Board of Directors of Boating BC, owners of the Vancouver International Boat Show have made the decision to cancel the 2022 Vancouver Boat Show. The in-person show is Western Canada’s largest boating event and was scheduled for February 9-13, 2022.

Faced with the drastic rise of COVID-19 cases in recent days, the Alliance de l’industrie nautique du Québec - Nautisme Québec deems it preferable to cancel the presentation of the Montreal International Boat Show that was to be held from February 10 to 13, 2022, at the Palais des congrès de Montréal.
