Congrats to Canada’s Sail GP Team
No matter what boat you enjoy, sail or power, yours likely would be no match in speed or sophistication for the F50 that Sail GP racing teams ride in their high-thrills events. The boats are insanely fast thanks to their foils and breathtakingly high-tech thanks to instruments, servo controls and state of sailing design. They capture the feeling of the newest America’s Cup boast but they race year round in big fleets and it’s all available to watch on TV or online.
In our publications, CY OnBoard and Sailing in Canada, we have been colossal fans of Canada’s Sail GP Team from its inception. But never more so than after this weekend’s impressive regatta win in New Zealand.

Incredible comeback for the Canadians to Win the New Zealand Sail Grand Prix!
After hitting their podium in their first two events in this, CAN SailGP’s inaugural season, winning results have been scarce for the Canadians. But this weekend, the Canadians were the ones to watch, consistently moving up the leaderboard and challenging the hometown favourites. Having overcome the huge setback following on from the severe weather incident in Sydney last month, the Canadians showed true resiliency and that SPIRIT was back in full force.

IONized
There is always a lot of action going on at boat shows, but I was a bit startled at the Miami show to be walking along checking out exhibitors when just to my right I heard the music of Jimmy Buffett start up and looked over to see a small machine that was blinking away and lighting up like a robot from Star Wars. It turned out to be a new electric boat motor. From a company called Ilmor.

The Invasive Species Centre is seeking your support with efforts to prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species through overland watercraft hauling
Aquatic invasive species such as zebra mussels are an ecological and economic threat to lakes and water bodies in Canada. Following Clean, Drain, Dry procedures for watercraft and recreational equipment are simple steps that everyone can do to ensure compliance and prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species. In most provinces, commercial haulers of watercrafts are responsible for ensuring watercraft and trailers are cleaned of invasive species and can be found liable even if they are not the equipment owners.
