Olympic Electric Boats and News Roundup - Paris 2024
Like millions of others around the world, you probably tuned in to see at least some of the Opening Ceremonies of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. As many of the commentators said, it was the first time the Ceremonies had been held in a place other than a stadium. For boaters it was very exciting to see the Parade being held on the River Seine, with 150 boats carrying athletes from 210 countries.

The 2024 Annapolis Sailboat Show: A Celebration of Sailing
Nestled on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay, Annapolis has long been a pilgrimage site for sailors. When Pigs Fly on Lake Erie
The south shore of Lake Erie is America with a capital A. It’s surprisingly rural when you come from Canada – not the bright lights and big city at all – just friendly folk and authentic American food. Here’s a spot you’d probably never discover if you didn’t travel by boat. Westfield NY is in the harbour at Barcelona NY, roughly midway between Dunkirk and Erie PA and just a shot across Lake Erie from Port Dover.

10 Tips for Better Docking
No matter the size of the boat, the current or the wind, it’s close quarters maneuvering that takes the most gelcoat from boats. But it doesn’t have to be that way if you follow these simple rules. 1. Never approach a dock any faster than you want to hit it. Ask Andrew
Trimming – it’s just plane sense. Part 1
Unlike a car that moves (and requires control) left and right (and perhaps, if you’re an adventurous type, up and down steep grades), and boat has significantly more range of motion. Port. Starboard. Yaw. Roll. Pitch. The operator controls the boat has best he/she can, through seas that are constantly moving and changing.

Chester Race Week Shows East Coast Spirit
Helly Hansen Chester Race Week has a rich 120-year history and involves four days of racing on the beautiful waters of Mahone Bay. Last weekend’s 134 registered boats and over 1,300 sailors make it the largest race week in a decade. In typical East Coast style, sailors experienced every type of weather imaginable. Light and shifty winds bobbed the fleet through race delays waiting for the breeze on day one and two.
