Ontario Investing in Electrical Training
Ontario is continuing to invest in the electrical training to get more people into the trades. NETCO is part of $13-million announced recently, the funding will go towards bolstering NETCO and IBEW training capabilities. NETCO will be providing access to the Electrical Vehicle Infrastructure Training Program at the IBEW training centres in Ontario, and they will also be adding virtual reality training that will begin in the Spring. The funding will also go towards projects at four IBEW Locals. Along with developing a new crown agency to handle apprentice training, Ontario is also aiming to make it easier for out of province skilled workers to work in Ontario. The province has plans to invest heavily in infrastructure and there is potential for labour shortages in the skilled trades. |
