Happy New Year!
Our first issue of the New Year takes a look back at some of the most important news stories from 2022. Several provinces revamped their skilled trade certification systems and introduced new legislation impacting skilled trades people. A new edition of the CE Code came into effect, a new funding program was launched to help SME hire apprentices. There were some major manufacturing investments and some interesting new hires.

Alberta Prompt Payment Act for the Contruction Industry Now In Force
Formerly known as the Builder’s Lien Act, the Prompt Payment and Construction Lien Act is now in force. The new act creates rules for the timing of payments and sets out a streamlined adjudication process for disputes related to payment or work performed as an alternative to court. Read More... |

Ontario Introducing Legislation to Allow Out-of-Province Skilled Workers
The Ontario government will introduce changes that would help workers in over 30 in-demand professions move here with their families while continuing their careers. Southwire’s Latest Copper Rod Plant Nears Completion

Government of Canada Invests in Labour Mobility to Boost Skilled Trades
