Having a whale of a time
For years now, I have received regular press releases from the Georgia Strait Alliance about shipping, salmon farming and the many other dangers our society poses to the health and well-being of the west coast oceans. And, the situation there is not unique.
The NMMA has recently sent a message to the US government asking the Biden administration to reconsider proposed vessel speed restrictions on the east coast to protect the North Atlantic Right Whale.

Ralph and Eleanor Hutchings, the founders of Hutchings Marine Products Ltd., began business in 1972 making mooring lines in their basement located in Port Carling, Ontario. Little did they realize just how much the “Rope Man” would evolve over the coming decades. Hutchings Marine Products is celebrating their 50th anniversary this year. They are a highly respected multi-line distributor of marine products based in Central Ontario, with many customers that span outside of the province.

Transport Canada accepts ABYC Electrical Standards for Electric and Hybrid Vessels
Transport Canada has approved a policy accepting American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) electrical standards for electric and hybrid vessel compliance in Canada. This new Tier I Policy allows the marine industry to use alternative industry standards where no requirements currently exist within Canada’s regulatory framework.

NMMA Canada Secures $100,000 For METS 2022 Export Mission
The Marine Equipment Trade Show (METS) is around the corner and NMMA Canada has another sold out Canadian pavilion. With the cancellation of the 2020 show and a restricted 2021 show, everyone is excited to come back together. This year there are 10 Canadian companies attending with a nearly 200 square metre footprint at the show.
