The importance of unimportant
How important are boats. Well, in the grand scheme of things, not that important. Not to be too meta, but this is a great time to have something unimportant to think about.
Who needs all this? It really is one IMPORTANT thing after another and we are entering our third year of it. While it is clearly critical to pay attention to the critical thing that surround us day after day lately, sometimes it’s just nice to think about boats.

Man overboard procedures
Prevention is the best solution to avert man overboard (MOB) accidents before they happen. Take every precaution to avoid such a situation. A passenger or crew member can tumble overboard at any time and under any conditions. If someone must go on deck, in any but the calmest weather, wear a safety harness attached to a proper jack line or suitable strong point on the boat.

World Sailing bans Russian and Belarusian sailors
World Sailing, the world governing body for the sport of sailing, has announced that it will suspend the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials in World Sailing owned and sanctioned competitions and events until further notice, in response to the invasion of Ukraine.
