Political interference
With the Canadian federal election called by the Trudeau Liberal government coming on September 20th, the boat business needs to quickly get up to speed on a couple of issues and rally support behind our marine trade associations across Canada.
You already know about the Luxury Tax that the Liberals proposed a year ago. Boats priced over $250,000 will be taxed at the lesser of 20 per cent of the value above these thresholds ($100,000 for cars and aircraft, $250,000 for boats) or 10 per cent of the full value of the luxury car, boat or aircraft. The tax is proposed to come into force on January 1, 2022.Aug. 10, 2021
That problem is bad enough. We need to oppose this vigorously. Then I learned about another point in the Liberal platform.
