Alberta Introducing Prompt Payment for Construction Industry August 29
Bill 37: The Bill 37: The Builders’ Lien (Prompt Payment) Amendment Act, 2020 introduces timelines and rules for payments and liens in all construction industry sectors, ensuring contractors and subcontractors are paid on time. Previously, Alberta had no rules for payment timelines in the construction industry, which meant these timelines were vague if not addressed in a contract. |

Electrical Industry Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Survey
Last year, the BCEA sent out a survey to launch their ARAP program. BCEA is collecting anonymous information from individuals in the electrical industry to see how much the needle has moved since the last survey 14 months ago. This information will help BCEA better understand the electrical industry as it relates to diversity, equity, and inclusion. |

Ontario Investing in Pre-Apprenticeship Training Programs
The Ontario government is working for workers by expanding its investment in pre-apprenticeship training to a record $28 million, providing more young people with the training they need to launch rewarding careers in the skilled trades. Between July and September 2021, there were more than 330,000 unfilled jobs in Ontario, many of which are in the skilled trades. |
