Oct 12, 2021

After 40 years of proudly serving the boating community, Scott Smyth, founder and owner of The Chandlery in Ottawa, takes his retirement and hands the torch over to long-time employee Matthew Hobbs.

Scott first opened the doors to The Chandlery in February 1982 on Priscilla Street at the back of the Britannia Plaza. He soon expanded into the adjoining unit, and by the mid-nineties, had moved the store to its current location on Poulin Avenue. Over those forty years he successfully grew the business into one of the largest marine stores in Canada.

As new owner, Matthew looks forward to carrying on the legacy that Scott built along with long-term staff, Steve Richards and Nikki Pepin.

Please join us in wishing Scott all the best in his retirement.
