Results of the 2022 World ILCA 7 Masters Championships

Canada was represented by seven sailors at the 2022 ILCA 7 Masters World Championships held last week in Riviera Nayarit, Mexico. Congratulations to Andy Roy, bronze medalist in the Grand Master category, as well as to Ray Davies, 4th in the Master category.

Since Saturday, eight Canadians are representing the country at the 2022 ILCA 6 Masters World Championships, still at Riviera Nayarit.

Sarah Douglas Finishes 5th, Six Points From the Podium, at French Olympic Week

Canadian Sarah Douglas from Toronto, ON, took fifth place overall at the French Olympic Week competition that kicked off last Monday in Hyères, France, finishing only six points away from a bronze medal.

Speed & Smarts: Take Control of Your Mainsail – Part 2 – Traveler

The traveler controls the angle of attack of the mainsail in much the same way as hydraulic cylinders control the flaps on an airplane wing. When the plane is going slowly and needs a lot of lift (e.g. to take off or land), the flaps go down to make the wing more curved and more angled to the oncoming wind.
