BoatHub

BoatHub is one more great reason to be a member of the Port Credit Yacht Club!

Boat Hub membership gives you access all season long to the PCYC owned and maintained J/24 sailboats.  Hone your nautical skills on a great performance boat that’s easy to sail, learn the ins and outs of boat ownership and join a community of like-minded people who want to get out for some fun and camaraderie on Lake Ontario.

Along with the use of PCYC facilities for you and your guests, each boat can be signed out for one of two time slots per day.  You may choose to head out for a sail in the morning with a picnic lunch then return to spend the afternoon by the pool. Or perhaps spend the afternoon sailing and experience the breathtaking view as you return your boat towards sunset before enjoying a social dinner with your fellow sailors in our Chartroom.  Wanting to spend a full day on the water? Team up with another BoatHub member and share consecutive time slots; a perfect way to make new friends and appreciate all Lake Ontario has to offer.

With enrolment capped at eight members per boat there will be a minimum of five weekday and two weekend slots per member each four weeks plus unlimited last minute bookings based on availability.  This is an easy way to experience the many joys of owning a boat for a fraction of the cost and time commitment.  No need to worry about things like maintenance, sail inventory, fueling up and insurance.  Just book your time and go!

Who is eligible?

Boat Hub is open to any current Senior or Associate member who meets the basic qualifications. Non members can join BoatHub, but will require a club membership.  Learn more about different memberships and fees for BoatHub here

What qualifications are needed?

All candidates will need proof of a valid PCOC, an ROC (M) VHF license, a Sail Canada Basic Cruising Standard or equivalent. In lieu of a Sail Canada certification, for those with sailing experience, a member can demonstrate their proficiency in boat handling and general knowledge to a club instructor for a nominal fee.

The staff and programs available at PCYC are here to help make sure you can get everything you need to go sailing.  Tristan Bourelle, our Learn to Sail Program Manager, can guide you through the ins and outs of qualifying to be skipper or crew with BoatHub.  Check out our Adult Learn to Sail programs or  contact Tristan directly at learntosail@pcyc.net for more information on getting qualified.

What does this cost?

If you are already an Associate or Senior Member at PCYC, the annual fee is only $995.00 (+HST) per season. All in!  That works out to less than $40 per sail and even less if you take advantage of the free last minute bookings!

If you aren’t a PCYC member but are interested in joining to take advantage of this fantastic opportunity, the various membership categories and fees can be found on our website here.
