Shark Worlds 2023

2023 Shark Worlds

August 16, 2023

As of the week before the event, there are 49 registered boats for the 2023 Shark Worlds at the Niagara-on-the-Lake Sailing Club. The tag line for the event is “Well Sailed Since 1959”. A great intro for a class that needs very little introduction to sailors around the Great Lakes and the inland lakes of Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

It looks like a great assortment of sailors, most of the best from their respective regions and clubs. There are also a bunch of excellent sailors from other classes that have taken up Shark sailing in the last few years and will be competing in their first Shark 24 World Championship.

It looks like the drifty days of August are coming to an end, so let the breeze build and let’s watch the Shiver of Sharks attack just outside the mouth of the Niagara River.
