Evonik recently launched a new heat-stable hardener that ensures coatings cure at room temperature.
The TEGO Cure 100 hardener is heat-stable up to 650 deg C. and "eliminates the need for costly and energy-intensive drying in the oven."
"Our new hardener meets the ever-increasing regulatory requirements," said Maximilian Morin, Head of the Industrial & Transportation Coatings Market Segment. "We are convinced that the new hardener will be a future-proof component in our customers' formulations."
The hardener is also reportedly suitable for silicone resins, developed for direct-to-metal coatings and surfaces continuously exposed to high temperatures, such as ovens, pipes or machines that get very hot during operation.
According to Evonik, the hardener is resistant to corrosion, chemicals and weathering. It has a high solids content of more than 99 percent, reducing solvent emissions. Evonik reports that TEGO Cure 100 is easy to handle and has a wide processing window, allowing it to be stable in storage over a long period of time.
