Centennial College and Elexicon Energy to Enhance Power Distributor Sector Training

Hydro-Québec is Upgrading its Transmission System for a Successful Energy Transition
Hydro-Québec is about to launch a major undertaking to upgrade this transmission system. The first phase will include the optimization of the existing system and the construction of almost 850km of new 735-kV or 315-kV lines, as well as 5 strategic new substations in 3 areas. Wataynikaneyap Power is pleased to announce the energization of both Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug and Wapekeka First Nation. The northern Ontario communities were both connected to the provincial power grid on December 14, 2023. Higgins Mountain Wind Project in Nova Scotia Moves Forward
The Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB) and Elemental Energy have reached financial close on a $118 million loan to support the Higgins Mountain Wind Project, located within the municipalities of Colchester and Cumberland in Nova Scotia. The wind farm is strategically positioned on a site with strong wind generation capacity, and existing transmission infrastructure nearby, making it an ideal location to produce and transmit clean energy. The 17 wind turbines will have the capacity to generate up to 100 megawatts of clean and reliable electricity, enough to power more than 40,000 homes. Read More... |

Nlaka’pamux Nation Tribal Council and BluEarth Renewables Reach Financial Close on quA-ymn Solar with Canada Infrastructure Bank
quA-ymn Solar is a partnership between the member communities of the NNTC and BluEarth. Together, they will construct and operate a 15-megawatt solar facility which will connect into BC Hydro’s energy grid. The added capacity from 38,000 fixed-tilt solar photovoltaic panels will supply enough renewable energy to power more than 2,000 homes annually, for both Nlaka’pamux communities and the province’s grid. Forty Mile Wind Farm Powers Up Clean Electricity for Alberta
Alberta has started to send renewable electricity to the province’s power grid. The project, which remains on track for completion in the first quarter of 2025, will generate enough clean energy to power more than 85,000 homes. The project is located about 50 kilometres southwest of Medicine Hat, Alberta. Its 49 Nordex turbines will have a total generating capacity of 280 MW, making it one of Canada’s ten largest wind farms and the largest installation of its kind that ACCIONA Energia has built to date in North America. - AltaLink Receives AUC Approval of Financing Agreement for Central East Transfer-Out Project
A financing agreement with the Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB) to reduce transmission costs for customers was approved by the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) on October 18, 2024. AltaLink secured financing for the Central East Transfer-Out Project (CETO) which will save Albertans approximately $60 million over the 30-year financing of the project.
