In this issue we have another installment of Bill Burr's code series, this month he is unpacking Section 6 - Service & Service Equipment of the 26th edition of the CE Code. You'll also find this month's Code Quiz from Bill, last month 82% of respondence had the correct answer. More on the code, TSBC is conducting a public consultation for the 2024 edition of the CE Code. Beyond that we are highlighting Canada's first black female master electrician in honour of Black History Month, and our changing scene section is full of interesting announcements.

Guide to the Canadian Electrical Code, Part 1[i], 26th Edition – A Road Map: Section 6
Section 6 of the code outlines the rules applicable to the electrical installation of service equipment, including the consumer’s service and the supply service. TSBC: 2024 Canadian Electrical Code Impact Assessment
From February 5 to February 23, Technical Safety BC will be hosting a public consultation to gather feedback on the impact of adopting the 2024 Canadian Electrical Code (CE Code) into BC regulation. The input collected through this consultation will help TSBC draft a recommendation to the Ministry of Housing on its suitability for provincial adoption. Read More... |

Celebrating Canada’s First Black Female Master Electrician
In honour of Black History Month this February we are highlighting Shelly Harding-Smith, who holds the distinction of Canada’s first black female Master Electrician. Harding-Smtih was born and raised in Windsor, Ontario, and began attending jobsites alongside her father at a young age. Harding-Smith’s parents, Morris Harding and Ruth Henderson-Harding ran Harding Electric in the Windsor area. Shelly worked alongside her parents and would eventually take over the family business once becoming a Master Electrician, running it under the name Harding-Smith Electric. Read More... |
