Bringing Awareness to Damages of Electric Shock Exposure
This issue features an article from Terry Becker. Electrical Injury Day of Recognition was established and recognized by industry organizations as October 6th. In his article, Terry outlines what electrical is, what can be done to prevent it, and what to do after being exposed to electrical shock. We also take a look at electrification and the pathways toward net-zero and an electricity-based economy, in the discussion that continues from Nexans' Change the Current event. Also, congratulations to Deborah Cahill, the first women inducted into the ECABC Hall of Fame! |

Electrical Injury Day of Regocnition
Bringing Awareness to The Long-Terms Damages of Electrical Shock Exposure
By Terry Becker
I authored this article for the Canadian Electrical Contractors Association, together with John Knoll CME, PEC, in an effort to bring heightened awareness to the long-term consequences of electrical shock exposure. John has worked in the residential, commercial, and industrial sectors of electrical trade as a Master Electrician and PEC and founded an electrical contracting company at the age of 22 which he sold in 2017. Due to Low Voltage Shock exposure, John has retired from the trade and is now an advocate of electrical shock awareness, injury prevention, and worker advocacy. Read More |

Fire Protection for Lithium-ion Battery Energy Storage Systems
Lithium-ion storage facilities contain high-energy batteries combined with highly flammable electrolytes. In addition, they are prone to quick ignition and explosion in a worst-case scenario. Such fires can have a significant financial impact on organizations. Rapid detection of electrolyte gas particles and extinguishing are the key to a successful fire protection concept. Since December 2019, Siemens has been offering a VdS-certified fire protection concept for stationary Li-ion battery storage systems. Learn More HERE |
