The New CPS-ECP Membership Card
At the National Annual General Meeting, CPS-ECP introduced the new Digital Membership Card coming the middle of November 2023. This will allow the member the flexibility to carry their CPS-ECP Membership card in a digital format on their electronic device, or in a printed version. This will also allow the member to easily forward a digital copy to a benefits supplier to validate their current membership.

Don’t look now, but Canada is quietly sneaking up the ranks as one of the world’s more significant boating nations. I’m sorry Johnny-boy – did you say ‘curling’? Hockey? Ice-fishing? Let’s start with sailing. As you’ll read in this issue, Canada just took four medals in sailing at the PanAm Games. Now, that’s not quite the Olympics, but significantly stronger than in years past. Let’s look at SailGP, seen as the grand prix of sailing worldwide.

Canada Takes FOUR Medals In PanAm Sailing – Best Since 2003
Canadian sailors added two medals on Saturday, the last day of the sailing competition at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games bringing the haul to four. Saturday delivered a gold medal in men’s Sunfish for Lee Parkhill and a silver medal in ILCA 6 for Sarah Douglas. Canada leaves Santiago with a total of four medals in sailing, the country’s best haul since it came up with the same total at the Santo Domingo 2003 Pan American Games.

Yes, Halifax is Hosting a SailGP Event in June
Thanks to the Sail NS team and various organizations in the area – Province of Nova Scotia, Halifax Regional Municipality, Build Nova Scotia, Discover Halifax, and the Port of Halifax – plus the sponsorship of ROCKWOOL, the first ever Canadian SailGP event will take place June 1-2, 2024. It’s a surprise to many Canadian sailors but less of a surprise to Frank Dennis, the executive director of Sail NS who has been working around the clock to make this happen for 18 months. In a recent interview, Frank told us that sailing has much more currency in Nova Scotia than almost anywhere else in Canada.
