Eau Canada Part 2
One day you find something you never thought about keeps popping up everywhere. Cruising Canada is certainly a thing for non-boaters too. I hadn’t considered that; in my thinking cruising means Caribbean or Greek Islands but stateroom-cruising in Canada is very popular too. Larger passenger loaded boats cruise the Trent, Rideau, Thousand Islands and St Lawrence all summer long.
Last issue we discussed that this was the summer to do your cruising in Canada. The Saturday after that last issue I was breezing through the travel section of the newspaper. Suddenly it’s all “Travel in Canada!” I guess I had never noticed that there are small cruise ships that explore the lakes and rivers that you and I frequent. Yes, tourists on cruise boats in the waters we take so for granted.

Expired Marine Flares Disposal Dates
Flares manufactured in 2021 or earlier expire this year, as Transport Canada approves them for only four years. They should be replaced every third or fourth boating season. To dispose of expired flares, do not light them, throw them overboard, or add them to household garbage. Flares are not permitted in regular trash or at household hazardous waste facilities due to their potential explosion and fire hazards.

Electric Roundup – Part 1: TIBS
With the ‘Boat Show Season’ wrapping up, it’s a good time to look at some of the electric boat and motor options that were on display in various locations and what that might hold for the future. I was able to visit four shows: Toronto and Vancouver, as well as one in the US (Miami) and Europe (Düsseldorf, the world’s largest boat show.)

Starcraft 1957 Ski Champ Replica Makes Waves
Among the many shiny new boats at January’s Toronto International Boat Show a surprise contender stood out, a replica of the Starcraft 1957 Ski Champ, taking pride of place near the main entrance. Unless you’re a rabid restoration fan, it’s a replica in all the ways that matter (modeled after the 1956 Chevrolet) plus it delivers 2025 performance.

Pets on Boats How-to Guide
There’s no question that boating adventures are even more enjoyable when we bring our furry friends along, both for us and for them. Whenever I go out in the bowrider, my Alaskan Malamute, Nya, runs straight up front, her ears tucked flat against the wind as we race across the lake. My mother and Kira, her golden retriever, spent 18 months sailing up the US eastern seaboard. Back home, my father’s Jack Russell Terrier, Sparky...

Lifting, launching and trailering
It’s coming up soon! Launch-day is filled with boat owners who aren’t sure where best to place the slings, and are left to rely on the best experience of the crane directors and travel-lift operators. How does the average boat owner easily and safely guide the launch crew on how to launch their boat? After all, every boat is different, and final responsibility on boat lifting rests with the owner, not the launch crew!
