OnBoard Update
The news from here is pretty great. As we enter the off-season (don’t hate me, I am only the messenger) in a couple of months, Canadian Boating’s OnBoard digest is booming. Our subscriber base has really expanded over the summer so we are now even further ahead as the country’s leading online source of Canadian boating information. BTW, if some of your friends are not yet on the subscriber list, they can easily get aboard for free at this link.
Our goal is to cover the entire boating spectrum – power, sail, cruising, racing – in every sort of boat that our Canadian readers enjoy. I was recently speaking with the owners of LazyBones, a 41-foot cruiser that in some ways tells the whole story. In the photo, you can see that they are welcoming a packed cockpit full of friends on a sunny afternoon. Their boat lives in a Hamilton Harbour Marina and they are members of the adjacent Royal Hamilton Yacht Club.

Olympic Electric Boats and News Roundup - Paris 2024
Like millions of others around the world, you probably tuned in to see at least some of the Opening Ceremonies of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. As many of the commentators said, it was the first time the Ceremonies had been held in a place other than a stadium. For boaters it was very exciting to see the Parade being held on the River Seine, with 150 boats carrying athletes from 210 countries.

Canadian Driver, Rusty Wyatt, Leads F1H20
With three races completed and the series now entering a summer break Inisfil ON’s Rusty Wyatt finds himself leading the UIM F1H2O World Championship. The series is set to resume in early October at the Grand Prix of China to be held in Shaghai. As only three races remain upon the series return in the Fall, one of which is currently in TBA status, the question arises: Can Wyatt maintain his momentum and secure the world title?

It Takes a Village – 631 Youth Sailors!
It was fair winds and beautiful sunny weather for the 65th Annual Port Credit Yacht Club Steerers’ Invitational (July 18-19) and the 23rd PCYC Four Sisters Open (July 20-21) this year, thanks to a record number 415 total dinghies entering the two regattas (241 and 174 respectively), with a total of 631 registered youth sailors, and 121 registered on water coaches.
