Good News (Unreported) Bad News (Reported)
Let’s first look at making news the right way. Northstar Canada’s Sail GP team took gold in the Sail GP race in LA a week ago. Then they took 2nd in San Francisco.
That would be the exciting way to make news, except that it did not. Here at OnBoard, boats are our beat so we reported both of these winning events and, to be fair, so did quite a few international sailing sites. BUT - No newspapers or news outlets in Canada covered either of these powerful events. This would have been the right way for boating to make news; unfortunately, it didn’t happen. Canada’s SailGP Team expressed frustration.

Upgrading Safety Part 1
I worked for a busy boat-tour operation 20+ years ago. Electric Roundup – Part 2 - Vancouver Boat Show
With the Boat Show Season wrapping up, it’s a good time to look at some of the electric boat and motor options that were on display in various locations and what that might hold for the future. I was able to visit four shows: Toronto and Vancouver, as well as one in the US (Miami) and Europe (Düsseldorf, the world’s largest boat show.)

Eight Bells for Bent Jespersen
While growing up on the Skagerrak in Aalborg, Denmark, Bent Jespersen’s fell in love with boats, so at age 15, he started his four-year apprenticeship at the local shipyard—the largest business in town—where his dad, older brother and uncle were already employed. But in 1955, at age 19 and liking travel, he opted to emigrate to Canada as he “had enough money to get to Toronto,” he told me...

Trent Severn Waterway ONE MORE TIME!
Just when you thought you might never see the Galley Guys again, there they were waving from the flying bridge of a Le Boat Horizon 3 gliding down the Trent Severn Waterway (TSW) in the sun. Glorious! In the past the Galley Guys have travelled far and wide to great locations to explore the good life on a boat. However, this year we stayed in our own backyard for a real treat...
